Kanye West Announces He's 'Done With Antisemitism'... But He's Sung This Song Before (1)

Kanye West says he wants to leave hate behind.

The “Runaway” rapper, now legally known as Ye, posted a series of messages Thursday on X, beginning with, “I am done with antisemitism.”

“I love all people,” he continued in a flurry of back-to-back posts. “God forgive me for the pain I’ve caused. I forgive those who have caused me pain. Thank you God.”

Explaining what prompted the shift, he added, “I simply got a FaceTime from my kids and I wanna save the world again. Share peace. Share love.”

Though Ye has long courted controversy, his turn toward explicit bigotry began in October 2022 when he wore a “White Lives Matter” shirt during his Paris Fashion Week show.

Days later, he went on a social media tirade declaring he was going “death con 3 on Jewish people.” His account was swiftly suspended, and major partners, including Adidas, Balenciaga, Universal Music Group and Gap, severed ties.

In late 2023, Ye appeared to show remorse, posting an apology to the Jewish community that said, “It was not my intention to offend or demean, and I deeply regret any pain I may have caused.”

But the about-face didn’t last. Just days later, he went on Twitter to say, “I’m never apologizing for my Jewish comments,” and continued to make antisemitic remarks online over the coming years.

His campaign for negative attention intensified earlier this year when he debuted a swastika-emblazoned T-shirt on the website of his brand Yeezy, repeated his praise for Adolf Hitler and outright call himself a “Nazi.”

Things appeared to hit their apex in early May, when he released a track titled “Heil Hitler,” which was swiftly banned from most major streaming platforms.
